About me
Dr. Ahmed, MBBS BSc MSc MRCPsych
I am a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 16 years of experience in assessing and treating people with mental health problems.
I have specialist registration with the GMC (General Medical Council) for General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry. My day-to-day NHS work involves providing mental health care to patients admitted to a busy general medical hospital. I see patients with a range of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar affective disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders, personality disorder, psycho-somatic conditions, substance misuse conditions, psychosis, problems related to memory and cognition, and schizophrenia.
I qualified as a doctor (MBBS) from Imperial College London, with an additional BSc qualification in Psychology & Psychiatry, and then going on to obtain an MSc in Psychiatric Research from University College London. I completed my Psychiatric training in London with membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and specialist registration in General Adult Psychiatry with a sub-specialist endorsement for Liaison Psychiatry.
I have experience in working in oupatient services, inpatient wards, and general medical hospitals. I have also worked as a senior medical manager working towards the improving the quality and safety of mental health care across a large region. I am now providing independent consultations outside of my NHS day-to-day work.
I live in east London with my wife (who is a GP and medical educator), and two boys age 6 and 10. We also have a cat named Casper.
