What I offer

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who is specialised in the assessment of psychiatric, mental, emotional, or behavioural conditions. A psychiatrist is able to prescribe medication. If you are an adult experiencing problems with your mood, feelings, emotions, thoughts, experiences or behaviour, then you may need to speak with a psychiatrist. At this time I am not doing formal assessments for ADHD or Autism.

Mental Health Assessment

A typical assessment involves a face-to-face conversation for 60 to 90 minutes about your symptoms and problems. We will talk about your mental health, your medical history, your personal circumstances, and your background. We would focus on your main challenges, exploring your ideas, concerns and expectations. I can also speak in Urdu/Hindi.

Formulation and diagnosis

After speaking with you we will develop a formulation around your mental health which will include a mental health diagnosis and a model of your difficulties that encompasses biological, psychological and social factors with consideration to predisposing, precipitating and maintaining factors.

Care Plan

Based upon the formulation we will discuss the next steps that might help in your recovery. This would include a discussion around best practices in treatment - starting with changes that you might be able to make in your life; counselling or psychotherapeutic options; other medical investigations or treatment that may be necessary; advice and support in your social circumstances; and a discussion around whether medication might be helpful.

I can supply a private prescripition to you directly, or make a request to your GP. I will not be prescribing any controlled drugs. After the appointment I will provide you with a letter containing information about the assessment, formulation, diagnosis and care plan.
